Mary Louise Van Scyoc Simmonds, 84, died January 3, 2003 as a result of a fall on the ice (taking out her trash) suffering a broken hip and head injuries.
During surgery, she went into a coma from which she never recovered.
Her husband Arlie is in a nursing home with Alzheimer's and is not aware that she has died.
She is survived by a nephew, Dennis O'Brien of Kansas City.
