Visionary, pioneer, hero of the United States Air
Force and champion of the WASP, General Henry (Hap) Arnold played a key role in the
formation of the Women Airforce Service Pilots.
He was the official in charge who said "YES" to
Jackie Cochran when she proposed that women be trained to fly military aircraft and
relieve the male pilots for combat duty.
His fascinating life is well documented in several books, as well
as A&E's "Biography" (on the Arts & Entertainment Channel).
